Mike is a co-founder of HGS data and has been a long time technologist and native to the Information Technology and network engineering for an accumulation of over 23 years in the space. During his tenure, Mike has worked with customers of varying types all over the globe. Mike has a strong background in IoT, Industrial Networking, Data Center and R&S Solutions. Prior to HDS Data, Mike was a solutions engineer at Cisco, a global network and data center engineer at Omya, a Swiss based mining company, and was the liaison between Global IT Operations and Omya’s global and local automation (OT) departments.
Mike is originally from and currently resides in the New England area (Vermont) with his wife Sara and two children, Grant (18) and Samantha (16). He is currently on the board of directors for three organizations; his local maker space “The Mint”, the “Adaptive Martial Arts Association”, a group that promotes disabled inclusion in the martial arts; and REDC, his local economic development commission. Mike also serves his community as a city alderman.
Lindsey is a cofounder of HGD Data. She is also partner and co-founder of Permitting Partners. She has assisted clients with identifying sites for operations, understanding the concerns of the surrounding community and how to engage key influencers, and developing innovative solutions that garner community buy-in. Johnson also advises clients on how to work effectively with local and state governments – as well as community leaders – to successfully facilitate the process.
Johnson has applied her economic development expertise to assist women entrepreneurs across the country. She co-founded Women Incorporated (WI), a non-profit organization founded to improve the business climate for female entrepreneurs through advocacy, education, access to credit, and aggregating the market power of the large number of women entrepreneurs.
Johnson also served as the national director of the Office of Women’s Business Ownership at the U.S. Small Business Administration, where she designed a public policy framework that would create economic development to support and promote women entrepreneurs. She was the director of legislative affairs for the Washington, D.C.-based law firm, Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand, where she specialized in energy, employee benefit and health care issues, international trade, contracting and transportation issues. She also has served as campaign manager for several congressional campaigns, worked on a number of state and local races and served as a national coalition director for the 1988 Presidential Campaign for Bush/Quayle. She also has worked at the U.S. Departments of Commerce and State. Johnson received her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and an A.B. in International Relations from the University of Chicago.
Lee is a co-founder of HGS Data LLC and is a strategist that identifies energy technologies, invests in energy startups, and permits and develops energy facilities. She has spent a decade collaborating with inventors and entrepreneurs in the energy field and has consulted on pipelines, spent fuels, transmission lines, quarries, waste coal clean-up initiatives, and rail lines. Lee is an environmentalist, entrepreneur, advocate for equity and believes the best rule to go by is still the Golden Rule. Lee co-founded PermittingPartners, an energy permitting consulting firm.
D.R. is a co-founder and CFO in HGS Data LLC. He was partner responsible for capital markets and financial modeling with BW Realty Advisors a boutique financial advisory firm focused on structured real estate. He is a partner in Boylan Crest Advisors LLC a boutique financial advisory firm specializing in delivering tax-enhanced renewable and sustainable energy and real estate finance solutions to clients.
Prior Mr. Dugan was President and Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Capital Corporation, the leasing and structured finance subsidiary of Temple-Inland Inc. Mr. Dugan was the President and Chief Executive Officer of American Finance Group, Inc. the leasing and structured finance subsidiary of PLM International, a publicly traded company. Prior to joining American Finance Group, Mr. Dugan held various positions with Equis Financial Group, including National Sales Manager, Treasurer, and head of its Capital Markets Group. Equis is a privately held real estate and equipment financial company with well over $1.0 billion in assets. Mr. Dugan developed and managed Equis’s international sharia compliant joint venture, headquartered in Dublin and was responsible for managing the assets and financing requirements of over 800 public and private partnerships managed by Equis. Prior to joining Equis, Mr. Dugan was a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. Mr. Dugan earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
A native of Ashland, Maine (Aroostook County), Kay earned a BA in political science at the University of Southern Maine. Her undergraduate education included internships in Maine and Washington DC for United States Senator William D. Hathaway. She then worked for Maine Municipal Association for 11 years representing towns and cities before the State Legislature.
After managing Angus King’s successful campaign for the US Senate in 2012 , Kay served as Senator King’s Chief of Staff in Washington, DC, from January 2013 to January 2019. In 1993, Kay had also managed his Maine gubernatorial campaign and served as Policy Director and then Chief of Staff to Governor King until the completion of his second term in January 2003.
In a tribute to Rand delivered on the floor of the United States Senate on December 18, 2018, Senator King said, “Kay reflects all the important aspects of good leadership: vision, teamwork, empathy, management, communication, optimism, decisive, doing homework, integrity and character.”
In between working for Governor and then Senator King, Kay became Managing Director of Bernstein Shur Government Solutions, the consulting arm of the law firm, Bernstein Shur. She was involved in a number of statewide public policy projects on behalf of a diverse range of public, non-profit, and business clients.
